Easy to manage

"This kayak is really light and easy to paddle. My girlfriend got it for me for Christmas and even though it’s cold out, I took it for a quick paddle on the lake. It performed better than expected for how light and small it is. Can’t wait to see what it can really do this summer!"

Crazy light!

"Its pretty amazing that this little thing turns into a full sized kayak and is really light. I got it for Christmas and took it out for a test paddle, it was really fun and stable. A little slower than my friends plastic kayak but I could keep up with them, even in the wind. Can't wait for more adventures once it warms back up."

Amanda D. (5/5)

very lite pack raft

"Thinker than expected and slightly bigger when rolled up but way lighter than my XPD so it is a win for my high country lakes I backpack into"

Crossing deep water

"Used this to cross deep water in a river on a moose hunt. It keeps me and my hunting pack dry. We got the pack raft to haul out heavy meat load but was unsuccessful so maybe we will have better luck next time."

Thanks for the inspiration!

"I live in Sacremento, CA and I saw your blog post about hiking up to Lake Aloha near lake Tahoe. It inspired me so much that I ordered a Hornet Lite and repeated that trip! It was absolutely perfect! A few miles in to a beautiful remote lake and only 1 other group was there. The next day we paddled around and then camped out again. We woke up early for a sunrise float and then hiked out the next day. I'm just so impressed with every aspect of Kokopelli from the amazing products, to great customer service to trip suggestions. You guys are hands down the best!"

Sam L. (5/5)

Lightweight and compact

"Easy to store and carry. Its best for calm water without too many obstacles. I currently just use for calm lake paddling. The inflation bag it comes with is cumbersome to use. I would highly recommend a pump instead of that."

Hornet-lite - perfect for mountain lakes

"Took it 4 miles in to a mountain lake. Worked great, everyone was taking turns using it and at one point had three 12-14 year old girls in it without issue. Super light and airs up quickly. I got an electronic gigapump and it's ready to go start to finish in about 5 minutes. Also help to remove the air from it for packaging. I couldn't get it as small as advertised, but still a manageable size and durable."

Tracking is good

"I saw a few reviews about tracking so I wanted to share my experience. I have a hornet lite and it tracks pretty good but not as good as a normal kayak. I reached out to Kokopelli and they said "With the shorter compact design of the packrafts they will be slower and won't track as well, but thats the trade off for the packraft being so light and compact" They also gave me a few tips like paddling with a more vertical stroke and paddling closer to the sides of the packraft. Both those tips helped a ton and I can go faster and straighter now. While I'm not setting any speed records in my Hornet Lite, I can still keep up with my friends in their normal kayaks, also I'm always waiting for them spending 10-15 minutes to set their boats up when mine is ready in 3 minutes."

Great Introductory Pack Raft

"Lightweight, reasonable price. Great way to try out packrafting. I wouldn't use it for hunting from rivers, but it works great to hike to a lake and go fishing. stable enough with a large dog of they sit still. material seems thin which makes me nervous with fishhooks but it's been fine on rocky banks when starting out or landing."

Q&A

Im 190 cm tall l Do i fit...in?
Yep! You will fit in the Hornet Lite. The Twain Lite is also another good choice if you want some more leg room and back support.
Looking for a something that my boys can both paddle in, what do you suggest for under $1k if possible
Most likely the Twain, but they both might be able to fit into the twain lite together too with an extra seat depending on their age/size. Send us an email and we are happy to help out with more info.
Have you guys worked out a tracking fin for this yet?
Hey Johanna, We do not have a fin on the Hornet Lite because it would add to the weight and make it not pack down as small, but we can install a fin on any packraft.
