Packrafting is an adventure sport that uses a lightweight, durable inflatable boat. Compact enough to fit in a backpack or attach to a bike, a packraft allows you to easily explore remote rivers and lakes that are off the beaten path.
Hiking with a traditional kayak is hard. They are cumbersome and heavy. While foldable kayaks do provide some level of portability, they can still be pretty heavy and bulky, weighing anywhere from 15-60lbs and packing down to an awkward shape making transportation almost as difficult as a hard kayak.. Because packrafts are ultra-lightweight (5-18 lbs) and easy to carry, you'll find yourself using them far more often than a traditional kayak—no heavy lifting, no complicated transport, just grab and go.
Kokopelli packrafts are super stable boats due to our Catamaran Style Hull, buoyant design,and durable material, making it much easier to stay upright compared to hard shell kayaks.
Unlike a normal whitewater hard shell kayak, you don't need to learn how to roll. Packrafts are pretty forgiving when it comes to flipping, which makes self-rescue a lot less exhausting. If you do fall out, you can just flip the raft back over and climb in a lot easier than you could a traditional kayak.
Our packrafts can inflate in as little as 60 seconds with an electric pump and 3-5 minutes with a manual pump.
